Family charity, Home-Start North Wiltshire (HS) is celebrating after being awarded £15,000 from The National Benevolent Charity. Home-Start helps families with young children who are experiencing difficult times and last year helped 107 Wiltshire families. Volunteers visit families for 2-3 hours every week to give free emotional and practical support with the aim of increasing family confidence, resilience, and wellbeing and giving children the best start.
Ali Russell, Chief Executive, NBC said, “Our Mission is to provide financial support to people experiencing poverty at a time of crisis. Home-Start North Wiltshire help families experiencing challenges including financial vulnerability, isolation, poor health, and family breakdown. We know that building stronger families can help tackle poverty and so we are delighted to award Home-Start North Wiltshire a grant of £15,000 over two years to continue their important work in promoting family resilience and improving children’s life-chances.”
Joanne Kent, HS Fundraiser, said, “Being a parent has never been easy but with our team of experienced volunteers we provide non-judgmental, compassionate support for parents when they need us most. We’re incredibly grateful to The National Benevolent Charity and would like to thank them for their funding. Their support will help Home-Start help more Wiltshire families.”
Home-Start helps families in Melksham, Devizes, Calne, Chippenham, Marlborough, Pewsey, and Swindon and are recruiting for home-visiting, community and group volunteers. To find out more, contact us
